A Brief History of Nunans
Albert D. Nunan started Nunans as a florist shop in Saugus, Massachusetts in 1917. Later he relocated to Georgetown, MA.
After a long and successful career, Albert passed the business down to his son, Ken, who worked the business for several years before deciding to do something different.
Bill Guerrini and Steve Flynn were friends of Ken's and long-time employees at a nearby wholesale greenhouse. When Ken mentioned he was considering selling the business Steve and Bill expressed an interest. Steve and Bill had worked together for 12 years and believed Nunans had great potential. A deal was made, a partnership formed, and an old business took on new life!
Nunans continues to grow and thrive
Nunan Florist and Greenhouses has grown substantially under Steve's and Bill's ownership. Since 1985 when they purchased Nunans, sales have grown to be 40 times greater than what they were. When they purchased the business it consisted of a small florist shop by the street with a few small greenhouses. Since then they have added several greenhouses, bringing the current total to 20. A garden center was added to house their florist operations and a retail store opening into a large greenhouse. They also added a huge nursery.
Our Staff
Our staff of 35 people includes 5 professional floral designers and several highly-experienced expert horticulturists.
The Nunan difference
Most of our plants are grown on-site in the greenhouses - making our plants hardier than the competitions because they are perfectly acclimated to our local environment and are not exposed to damage during transportation.
